Stolen vehicle crashes into a cement mixing truck.

Shortly after 3 PM yesterday, December 13th, emergency crews from the Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Twin Lakes Fire/Rescue and the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department were requested to respond to the intersection of State Highway 50 and County Hwy P for a “high velocity” motor vehicle crash.

Crews arrived on scene to find a Chevy Equinox had crashed into the back of an Ozinga cement mixing truck at a high rate of speed. The operator of the Chevy, Mandy Stewart was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

The vehicle was reported to have been driving recklessly prior to the crash. Witnesses state the vehicle hit the back of the cement truck at approximately 80 miles per hour.

Prior to emergency crews arriving, witnesses state that Stewart was telling people that she did not want the police, was being very uncooperative and asking bystanders to pull her out of the car. Once extricated, Stewart continued to try to get away.

A Flight For Life helicopter was requested to transport the patient to a Milwaukee trauma center due to the severe mechanism of injury, however, her injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Wauwatosa PD had an officer stand by with Stewart until Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies could get to the hospital.

The driver of the cement truck was not injured and the truck was able to drive away from the scene after being released by Deputies.

Per Kenosha Sheriff’s Sgt. Colin Coultrip, the investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen out of Chicago earlier in the morning and Stewart was fleeing from a potential domestic incident in Lake Geneva prior to the crash.

Per the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, Stewart has previously been charged with OWI, Operating After Revocation, Bail Jumping, Retail Theft and Misappropriate ID Info.
